History SRIG Newsletter

June 2018

The next Symposium on the History of Music Education will meet at the University of Mississippi in Oxford in 2020. Although the exact dates have not yet been determined, the symposium will likely be held around the same time as pervious HSRIG conferences in late May/early June. The Symposium Committee includes:

Symposium Chair: Paul Sanders (OH State Univ – Athens)
Site Host: Alan Spurgeon (Univ of MS)

Submissions Coordinator: Patti Tolbert (GA College, emeritus)
Publicity: Phillip Hash (IL State Univ.)

A call for papers will appear in the spring and summer of 2019. As always, we will welcome submission (papers, panels, & performances) on any topic related to the history of music teaching and learning around the world. However, at this symposium, we also hope to honor the heritage of the location by encouraging papers related to the American South and music instruction (formal and informal) among African Americans.

We hope you can join us for the next symposium! More details will follow in the coming months.
